Services

Our services are always backed by our performance guarantee:

  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Permitting
  • Installation
  • Interconnection administration
  • Facilitation of final building department and utility inspections
  • Follow up with post–installation monitoring and warranty service

All administrative services involving government incentives, utility interconnection and building department permitting are included in the sale and installation process. We bill you at the post-rebate contract amount, effectively financing part of your system until the rebate is paid by the state.
Solar Components

The major components of a grid–connected solar power system include solar modules and inverters. The solar modules produce DC electricity and the inverters and transformers convert the DC to AC electricity, which can be used onsite or fed to the utility grid, spinning the meter backwards and crediting your utility account. Almost all of your home appliances run on AC electricity.

Buying & Selling Power

By signing an Interconnection Agreement with the utility company, you are able to trade power with the utility at retail rates. The process of trading power with the utilities is called Net Metering. Net Metering allows you to be credited at the same rate that you would otherwise be charged.

Annual Bill

At the end of the annual billing cycle, you are responsible for paying the difference between what you used and what you produced. Solar power systems produce most of their electricity during times of peak demand when electricity rates are highest, which means that you will often feed power into the grid at peak times and pull power from the grid during off peak times. This allows many customers to zero out their bills even if they are not producing as much energy as they are using.

- Energy Efficiency

For commercial and industrial customers, San Diego Solar Green offers whole building energy consulting as part of our services. We perform energy audits in order to identify the most cost effective ways to reduce energy usage. We often couple energy efficiency measures with on-site solar generation. This may allow you to receive the best return on investment (ROI) and greatest independence from utility power.

Lighting

The most common residential and commercial energy efficiency upgrades are lighting. You can often significantly reduce your electrical consumption by swapping old incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. Linear fluorescent lights with magnetic ballasts can often be changed for more efficient bulbs using electronic ballasts. Utility companies frequently offer rebates for these lighting retrofits.

Solar Energy Efficiency Rebates

Utility companies offer commercial entities rebates for many different types of energy efficient retrofits. Learn more at PG&E’s website. There are substantial rebates for lighting upgrades, occupancy sensors, HVAC upgrades, and refrigeration upgrades. These upgrades, when combined with the installation of a solar power system, often yield greatly reduced operating costs, yield substantial return on investment, and shield your business from the effects of rising electric rates.

System Monitoring

We Monitor Your System

San Diego Solar Green  will help you monitor the performance and health of your solar power system. Every system we install comes standard with a display to allow you to monitor its performance.

Report your data to us online

We monitor your system’s performance. In cases where there are concerns about production, we can use your historic data to determine the best course of action. We offer this service free to all of our customers as part of our warranty.

We also offer web–based remote monitoring as an option with every system. Remote monitoring allows both San Diego Solar Green and the system owner to easily analyze system performance. Systems with remote monitoring can be configured to automatically transmit service alerts to the system owner via email or text message.

Consultation

IWe are able to provide design and consulting services for virtually any type of solar power project. San Diego Solar Green is well equipped to take the project from a feasibility study all the way to final design. During this process we can educate you about the available options, and will customize a solution for your particular application.
If you are a public organization or large company researching solar electricity, San Diego Solar Green consulting services are an excellent resource. By analyzing your site and electricity demand we can develop a plan specific to your needs. We can also assist you with the creation of a Request for Proposal (RFP) bid package when you are at that stage of the project.

Maintenance

Proven Reliability

Solar electric systems are a proven technology and are extremely reliable. Photovoltaic (PV) cells were originally developed for use in space, where repair is extremely expensive, if not impossible. PV still powers nearly every satellite circling the earth because it operates reliably for long periods of time with virtually no maintenance.
Solar panels have no moving parts, and therefore no potential points of mechanical failure. Recommended preventive maintenance is usually limited to semi–annual rinsing of the panels with water and monthly reading of inverter production. Every San Diego Solar Green system carries a 10–year warranty on all parts and labor. Our solar panels carry a 25–year warranty from the manufacturer.

Reliability Pledge

We apply a rigorous process to ensure that your system meets the highest standards for quality and reliability. We are so confident in the reliability of our work that if your system is ever down for more than a day, we will pay you for your lost power.

Maintenance Services

For larger systems or systems with difficult access, San Diego Solar Green offers optional maintenance contracts. San Diego Solar Green will schedule annual or semi–annual maintenance visits. During these visits, will provide the following services:

Clean the module array
Check all electrical connections
Log lifetime and instantaneous power and energy output
Check for any plant growth causing shading
Write a report on system status and any corrective actions if necessary.
